christywomens.com FAQ
Our Philosophy & Materials
Q: What is christywomens.com’s design philosophy?
A: At christywomens.com, we view Mother Earth as our most powerful teacher. Our philosophy is rooted in celebrating her beauty and resilience. We aim to tread lightly, produce sustainably, and honor the planet with every decision. This commitment has evolved into a focus on regenerative practices that seek to heal the land.
Q: What is regenerative cotton?
A: Regenerative cotton is grown using farming practices that actively restore soil health, increase biodiversity, and draw down carbon from the atmosphere. It goes beyond sustainability to leave the land better than we found it. We source regenerative cotton from our own farm project.
Q: Where does your cotton come from?
A: We use cotton from three main sources:
- Farm-to-Closet Cotton: Grown on our own regenerative farm. Garments from this cotton are clearly tagged “Farm-to-Closet.”
- Certified Organic Cotton: Sourced to meet rigorous earth-friendly and people-friendly standards.
- Deadstock Fabric: We utilize beautiful leftover fabrics, giving them a new life.
Q: Why do you use deadstock fabric?
A: Using deadstock (high-quality leftover fabric) is a core part of our commitment to reducing waste. It allows us to create beautiful, limited-run garments without requiring new resources, aligning with our goal of treading lightly.
Production & Partnerships
Q: Where are christywomens.com garments made?
A: Our garments are crafted with care and reciprocity in several locations. Our production centers are in Los Angeles and Mexico. We also partner with incredible, woman-run knitting ateliers in Peru.
Q: How do you choose your production partners?
A: Relationships are at the core of everything we do. We seek partners who share our values of environmental stewardship, fair treatment, and community support. We build long-term, loving relationships with artisans and ateliers who are proud of their craft.
